Knee Bands
Summary:
A pair of knee bands that are decorated with green and white squares with red thread. Description:
This pair of beaded knee bands are decorated with green squares with a white background. The thread that is holding them together is red. One of the knee bands still has the strings to tie the knee band, while the other does not have the strings on one side. These knee bands were purchased from Jeff Abbey in 1908 from M.R. Harrington who was traveling through the area to learn about the Coushatta people. Harrington purchased the knee bands for $1.00 and noted the Koasati word for the knee bands as "sti-za se-hel-ka."
